Meet Rebecca
“Really great outcomes don’t lead to optimism. They are created by optimism.”
Hello! I’m Rebecca Pistilli, and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I grew up in a small Pennsylvania town in an Italian family & am the middle of 3 sisters. After receiving my Bachelor’s in psychology from the Indiana University of PA, I drove across the country to CA to “find myself.” I lived in the San Fernando Valley for five years and worked in the entertainment industry casting contestants for television game shows like the Family Feud! I went on to pursue my Master’s in Counseling from CSUF & enter the field that I consider to be “my calling.”
Post-graduation, I began working with children & families & developed a specialty treating at-risk teens. Spending so much time working with various developmental levels helped me to gain an understanding of human development & gave me an excellent foundation for my focused work with adults. I have advanced training in family therapy, couple’s treatment, sex therapy, and the treatment of trauma. In the last 10 years, I have worked as a clinician and a clinical supervisor for counselors at all professional levels. I have had the privilege of working with SoCal Counseling Center for the last 6 years.
How I work
Clients have shared that once we begin working together they feel supported in a way that helps them improve their relationships with others and their performance at work. They also gain a better understanding and acceptance of their own feelings. This, in turn, enhances decisiveness and confidence. Couples report they come to a better understanding of their partner & themselves and their negative patterns. They are better able to see their own contributions to the problems in the relationship & how to make effective changes. This leads to happier and more fulfilling relationships.
More about me
I appreciate simple things like hiking or taking my daily walk with my favorite podcast. This year has caused me to hit the reset button in so many areas of my life where I was living unconsciously. It has had an enormous impact, and I guess I’m still processing it in some ways. In the year ahead, I’m focused on creation.
I’ve lived in Tustin with my husband and 11-year-old son for the past five years. During my time off, I look for moments in my life to be inspired and refueled, and that can come in many forms, from having dinner with my family to practicing meditation or singing Karaoke on my living room couch.
