Kelly Garrity
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Meet Kelly

“We’re all just walking each other home.” -Ram Dass.

Hi! I am Kelly Garrity, a licensed marriage and family therapist. As a child, I was one of those kids who kept asking, “but why?” I trust there are answers, and usually, the solutions to our pain hide quietly inside us. But we don’t know how to access the answers. So I see my job as helping people ask the right questions to elicit helpful responses from their “wise mind” inside. In other words, I want to help people recover their own truth.

With two decades of clinical experience, I have had the honor to help hundreds of adults, children, couples, and families dealing with trauma, grief, addiction, Codependency and relationship issues, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

How I work

My clients have described me as practical, patient, mindful, and kind. Having a complete treatment toolbox is fun for me since no one approach fits all clients. (For those of you interested in types of therapy, I have training and experience in Filial (Family) Play Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and Creative/Expressive Art therapies.)

Blending the tools and wisdom of the arts with evidenced-based, neuroscience-informed interventions to heal the brain – I tailor my approach to each client’s unique personality, values, and needs.

Much of my work helps those with childhood pain, old fears, and ineffective relationship habits that get in the way of the richer, more meaningful life they want to live and deserve.

I try to bring a lot of humility to my role as a therapist. I understand that as humans, none of us are immune to getting hijacked by the echoes of past painful experiences.

And when we finish our work together, my wish is that all my clients have more trust in themselves, have the tools they need and are well on their way to a fresh new page.

Someone once told me, “Kelly, you are a deep, complicated thinker.”  While I enjoy working with all types of people, I find “deep, complicated thinkers” to be a wee bit of a favorite. Including children! 🙂

More about me

I love music – so singing, playing piano and my ukulele, songwriting, and poetry.  These are “the essentials of caring for me” that help me feel more connected and fulfilled in caring for others.

In creating this bio for you, I was asked, “What is your goal for the next 12 months?” My answer?

I hope to live with as much simplicity and ease as possible.

And, my fellow traveler, I have the same wish and hope for you.
